Thomas Rowell Cornish was born on the 8th of January 1829 at Ideford, Devon. Son of James, a yeoman,  and Mary Cornish.

Ann Maria Cornish was born on the 15th of May 1834 at Ideford, Devon. Daughter of James, a farmer, and Mary Cornish.

Susan Vooght was born on the 11th of December 1835 at Ilsington, Devon. Daughter of John, a farmer at Staplehill farm, and Mary Vooght.

The Cornish family were still living in the village at Staplehill Farm, Ideford, Devon in 1841;
