George Buckingham was born in the 2nd quarter of 1839 at Crediton, Devon. His mother’s maiden name was Ellis.
In 1841, the Buckingham family were living at the High Street, Crediton, Devon. Father, Robert, born 1805, and mother Jane, also born 1805. Brother Robert, born 1826, sister Jane, born 1828, brother William, born 1832, and brother John, born 1835.
In 1851, the Buckingham family had moved to 46, George Street, East Stonehouse, Devon. Father Robert and George have the occupation of cordwainer, a shoemaker who makes shoes from new leather.
On the 6th of April 1864, George married Eliza Ann Tregenza at St Gluvias, Penryn, Cornwall.

The historic parish church of St Gluvias, dedicated to Gluvias of Cornwall (or Gluviacus) serves the Church of England parish of St Gluvias with Penryn. Gluvias of Cornwall was the son of Gwynllyw the warrior, King of Gwentlog, and a nephew of St Petroc. The church was founded in the 6th century and the parish was in the Middle Ages sometimes called Behethlan or Bohelland.
In 1871, George, Eliza Ann and their 5-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Jane, plus their 3-year-old son George A Buckingham were living at Albert Terrace, Portland, Weymouth, Dorset, where George senior is a Coastguard.
In 1881, George is aboard HMS Cambridge at Devonport, Devon.
George is now a Chief Officer in the Coastguard.

She was laid down at Pembroke Dockyard as HMS Victoria in 1844, to the design of HMS Queen. She was renamed HMS Cambridge in 1869. HMS Cambridge was intended to carry 110 guns, but work was suspended. She was reordered on the 29th of June 1848 to a modified design and reordered again on the 28th of February 1857 when she was ordered to be converted from sail to mixed sail/steam propulsion whilst on the stocks and to be fitted with 120 guns.

George Buckingham, Chief Officer, Coastguard, stationed at Teignmouth, Devon.
In 1891, the Buckingham family were living at The Strand, East Teignmouth, Devon. They have two daughters living with them, Elizabeth Jane Buckingham, aged 26, born 1865, and Florence Ada Buckingham, aged 20, born 1871, a School Teacher, and two sons, William Buckingham, aged 13, born 1878, a Scholar and Norman Buckingham, aged 7, born 1884, a Scholar.
In 1901, the Buckingham family have moved to 11, Grenville Road, Plymouth, Devon. George has retired, and their daughter Elizabeth Jane is a shop assistant in the boot department.
George Buckingham died on the 5th of June 1906.
In 1911, Eliza Ann and Elizabeth Jane are living with their son and brother William James Buckingham at 14, Grove Crescent, Teignmouth, Devon. William’s occupation is Sorting And Telegraphist.
Elizabeth Jane Buckingham died on the 10th of January 1918 aged 52 years.
Eliza Ann Buckingham died on the 6th of February 1934 aged 87 years at Westhampnett, Sussex.
