I was exploring an auction site for items of interest from Teignmouth and discovered a fob watch made by George Rossiter of Teignmouth and Paignton. I have purchased this for restoration.

 Biography

9 June 1876: twin brother to Rose.

14 Nov 1895: witnessed the second marriage of mother Sarah Rossiter in Teignmouth Baptist Chapel to Samuel Poole, music dealer.

21 Apr 1898: witnessed marriage of his sister Rose Rossiter to William Joseph Norton at the Baptist Church, Teignmouth.

20 Feb 1899: on marriage at Dolton Baptist Chapel, in the district of Torrington, Devon, described as George Rossiter, aged 22, bachelor, jeweller, living at 15 Bank Street, Teignmouth, father Ebenezer Rossiter, jeweller.

1901: Living at 15 Bank Street, Teignmouth, Devon, Watchmaker and Jeweller.

1902: Watch Maker of Teignmouth, at 15 Bank Street.

1910: Watch Maker of Teignmouth, at 11 Bank Street.

1901-1946: Watchmaker and Jeweller of Teignmouth, Tiverton, Newton Abbot.

1920: Jeweller. Took over the business of T Leonard Crow at 21, Fore Street, Tiverton.

1924: Jeweller. A silver wedding bowl owned by Mrs Betty Burdett in 2005, with inscription inside bowl:

'Presented to Mr and Mrs George Rossiter on their silver wedding anniversary by the staff of Teignmouth, Tiverton and Newton Abbot 1899 - 1924'

6 Jan 1928: in her will Sarah Friend of Lawn View, 2 The Strand, Dawlish, Devon, widow, appointed as executors daughter Mrs Bertha Rossiter and son Leonard Friend. She gave to her surviving daughters the sum of her money equally between them in the hands of her son-in-law George Rossiter (currently £50). She gave all cash in the house and in bank accounts and furniture and effects to her daughter Mrs Beatrice Wills, subject to certain conditions.

 21 Sept 1929: Sarah Friend of 23 The Strand Dawlish Devonshire died 1 August 1929. Probate London 21 Sept 1929 to Bertha Rossiter (wife of George Rossiter) of Grasmere, Woodway Road, Teignmouth daughter and Leonard Friend of 3, Holles Street, Marylebone, Middlesex, haberdasher, son of deceased. Effects £149 18s gross.

1935: Jeweller at Teignmouth, at 11 Bank Street, telephone 90.

10 March 1946: George Rossiter of Grasmere, Teignmouth died on 20/3/1946 at The Hospital, Teignmouth. George is buried in plot CC33 in the Teignmouth Old Cemetery.
