From 1899 until 1902, Major John Charles Pengelly Manuell fought in the Anglo Boer War with the 7th Battalion Mounted Infantry, attached to the King's Own Scottish Borderers Company, QSA Clasps: P,D,J,DH,W,CC. The clasps awarded were for; Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, and Wittenbergen.
